You hear it all the time, “Does this report include <deal, check, invoice>?” or “How do I know this report is
complete/accurate?”. That’s the problem with static reporting - what you SEE is what you get; and that’s all.
Drill-down features make things a bit better, but you’re still stuck with the drill-down hierarchy that the report writer decided
you needed. What if you want to drill from “Revenue” to “Customer” instead of “Department”? Or, from “Personnel Expense”
you want to see a breakdown by Employee, rather than a breakdown of the accounts related to Personnel? Back to IT, get yet
another report.
That’s the beauty of true dynamic reporting - what you WANT is what you get. From any starting point, you can ask questions
and get answers. No waiting for IT, no need to load another report. Just grab a different field and you have a different report.
